If you feel like there’s something missing in your life, it’s probably a packraft. This summer, I dragged my toddler son out on a number of adventures in my Forager. I like this boat for a variety of reasons, including that it can comfortably carry my boy, dog, and gear for everything from overnight to multi-week trips. I was going to use it on a moose float hunt this fall—it can hold 1,000 pounds—but COVID squashed those plans. Weighing just 13.5 pounds and coming in at 10.3 feet long and 43 inches wide, this boat easily rolls up and stuffs into my backpack; I can hike comfortably with it for miles. It can handle ocean, white water, or a lazy river. It paddles faster than other packrafts and, like all Alpacka products, is incredibly durable and of the highest quality.
The Forager changes the way I look at a map and opens up a wide variety of adventures that would be impossible or difficult to do with other boats. Whether it’s moose or caribou hunts, wilderness paddle expeditions, or the long river trip I’m planning to do with my son next summer, there’s no shortage of adventures in store for the Forager.
