Description: Predicting Aurora displays is a finicky science at best; in spite of alert apps, satellite data charts, and 24/7 webcams, displays can still erupt across the sky without warning. After monitoring lackluster data for several hours one evening, I was preparing to call it a night when I received a message from another local photographer. Apparently, the Aurora had kicked of a stunning show with little-to-no warning. I grabbed my gear, drove a few minutes down the road, and was able to capture this image of a spring Aurora dancing over the residual light of the late-setting sun.
