Description: Bridgett Watkins mushes her team in the 2023 Iditarod on one of her final legs of the race. The final stretch between the checkpoint known as Safety to the finish line is less than 20 miles but it can be a very emotional stretch for so many mushers. This was not her first attempt at the iditarod and Bridgett faced and overcame many adversities to cross the finish line. Bridgett was awarded the Northern Air Cargo Herbie Nayokpuk Memorial Award, given to those that epitomizes Herbie Nayokpuk’s spirit of mushing the Iditarod.
