Description: Photographing the Willow Ptarmigan during the winter is a special challenge as these birds blend into the snow incredibly well. I enjoy watching these "snow chickens" as they waddle through the snow, often climbing up onto willow limbs to eat buds. I found this bird in a small flock as they rested in a patch of willows. It was undisturbed by my presence which is always a special delight.
