The first ever IRONMAN race in Alaska will be held in Juneau on August 7, 2022. The route is a 2.4-mile swim in Auke Lake, a 112-mile bike ride to the literal end of the road on Glacier Highway north of Juneau, and a 26.2-mile run near Mendenhall Glacier. Tickets for the race went on sale in August 2021 and general entry sold out shortly after sales opened.

IRONMAN signed a contract to hold an annual race on the first Sunday of August in Juneau at least through 2024. IRONMAN officials said the group will likely hold a race in Juneau for years to come.
